Porcelain tiles have both aesthetic and technical benefits on outdoor surfaces.

Choosing the most suitable materials for the exterior is one of the biggest challenges when tackling a renovation or a project from scratch. The surfaces of these spaces require much more resistant materials. And even more so if we are talking about floors, which will also have to deal with the passage of people and even vehicles.

One of the favourite options for architects, interior designers and builders are ceramic floor and wall tiles, precisely because they meet many of these requirements:

  • Strength and durability. Ceramic is a material designed to last and is well known for withstanding impacts, cracks and high traffic depending on its degree of hardness. In fact, there are even specific outdoor ranges with a thickness of up to 2 centimeters and greater tolerance to breakage.

Whether on wall tiles or floor tiles on a terrace, porcelain gres will remain as good as the first day. Another of its strong points is that it is easy to clean and requires almost no maintenance. All these advantages are especially valuable in an environment that is much more difficult to care for than interiors.
  • Impermeability and resistance to temperature changes. Thanks to the technical characteristics of ceramics, tiles laid outdoors will withstand adverse weather conditions such as rain, sun or frost. In this regard, special attention should be paid to the type of ceramic tile chosen.

Porcelain tiles are less porous, so they will absorb even less moisture and will be more resistant to low temperatures. As a result, it is less likely to break or crack.

On the other hand, since it is water resistant, it can be used in demanding areas such as around the swimming pool. Furthermore, there is the possibility of applying a non-slip finish. All these benefits make porcelain floor tiles a very practical material.
  • Variety of designs. The benefits of installing porcelain tiles go beyond their undeniable technical advantages. The design possibilities are many, and allow the creation of exteriors with a more rustic aesthetic to more contemporary ones. An example of this is the popular cement design tiles, minimalist and with an industrial air.

On the other hand, we have those that simulate natural stone with a great deal of detail. Ceramic tiles can also remind us of other materials that are far removed from the stone character, such as wood.
